Brittany Slont, Nursery
Brittany is a native Arizonan. She grew up in the Presbyterian Church but truly gave her life to Christ when she was in Junior High. Following her graduation from Whitworth University Brittany spent 3 years in East Asia as a missionary. She taught English and supported the Christian community. Her love for children continues as a Special Ed teacher in the Mesa School District. Brittany began working at the Spring in 2011 in the nursery and continues to love each child that comes through the door.
Tammy Slont, Nursey
Tammy moved to Arizona in 1983 from Indiana. She loves the sunny days, and warm weather of the valley. She gave her life to Christ at a Young Life camp when she was in High School. Tammy has worked in the Scottsdale Public School District for 18 years. She has two grown children and a menagerie of pets. Tammy feels incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to share Christ’s love with the infants in the nursery.
Nali Velez, Toddlers
Nali has been with the Spring for the past 2 years and has been teaching the Spring toddlers for a year, loving every minute of it. Leading the toddler classroom has helped her to recognize her passion and love for children and their place in God’s world. Nali is a junior at Arizona State University where she is studying Social Work. She plans to pursue a graduate degree in early childhood education because of the experiences that The Spring has given her.
Kelsey Sabori, 2s & 3s
Kelsey has been working at The Spring for almost five years and enjoys getting to connect with the families and teach children how loved they are by Jesus. Outside of working with 2-3 year olds, Kelsey spends her days teaching Freshman English and leading Young Life at Desert Vista High School. When she’s not working with kids (literally that’s how she spends most of her time), you can find her reading a good book, binge watching her favorite tv show, or braiding hair. She’s a big fan of glitter, the color pink, Dr. Pepper, and One Tree Hill.
Sonya Yee, Pre-K & K
Sonya is a Tempe native who has been blessed to work at The Spring for the past 3 years. She continues to enjoy working with all of the families here. One of her favorite aspects of working with children is watching them grow and learn. She is a graduate of ASU with a B.S. degree in Family and Human Development and also studied Speech and Hearing Science. Currently, she works as a full-time Nanny. In her spare time, she delights in her cat, Boyo and loves to camp, travel, and appreciates redheads.
Tiffany Nelson, 3rd-6th Grade
Tiffany Nelson will be serving as Children’s Ministry Intern from Jan 1, 2017 thru June 30, 2017 here at The Spring. She was born and raised in Spokane, Washington where she fell in love with ministry. Ever since she was a little girl, Tiffany loved attending Sunday School and learning about Jesus and all that the Bible has to offer. As she grew up, that fascination never faded and she began teaching the same classes that she once attended. This year marks thirteenth years of involvement in Children’s ministry, volunteering in areas from Sunday classes to Vacation Bible School, missions, and numerous church camps. There is nothing more rewarding for Tiffany than when a child is having a blast and learning about the Gospel along the way. That love for volunteering was the foundation which led to her career, leaving behind her Northwest roots to pursue a degree in Youth & Children’s Ministry at Grand Canyon University. Tiffany is currently in her second year in that field at GCU. Her internship here at The Spring is the next great chapter in this epic adventure and she is ultimately thankful for the opportunities God has placed before her. We welcome Tiffany to The Spring.
Rachael Townsend, 1st-2nd Grade
Rachael is from Gilbert, Az and has been employed by The Spring since September 2017. She is now in her third year at Grand Canyon University majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Worship Arts. Tiffany Nelson, introduced Rachael to The Spring, and she fell in love with the church. She came to volunteer in children’s ministry and was offered a job that Sunday! Rachael has been a Christ- follower since the age of 4 and always loved attending Sunday– school and VBS. As she grew more in her faith and learned more about Who the Savior is, she learned how precious children are to the Lord and how He taught others to have that “child- like faith”. Rachael’s love for pouring into the hearts of children is what made her want to become a teacher. Being on Staff with the Spring has only re-affirmed her passion for teaching, and she has been honored and privileged to pour into the lives of these students by telling them about Jesus each week.
