Our story started on a Sunday evening the summer of 2009. A group of men and women gathered in a Tempe living room for worship, biblical teaching, and a meal. Though few in number that first evening, word spread about the emerging community. Others came and helped foster the deep, loving relationships that continue to nurture the Spring community.
The Spring was founded on prayer. For years, Presbyterian pastors Tom and Gayle Parker asked God to raise up leaders for a new community that would reach young men and women who aren’t connected to Jesus or the Church. They prayed into existence a fellowship rooted and grounded in the love of God, committed to loving one another in an authentic community, and eager to love for the world that Christ died for.
The Spring affirms the leadership gifts of both men and women, is Reformed in theological tradition, and holds evangelism and justice as key to a healthy community.
