In response to God’s grace and truth in Jesus, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, Spring people seek to passionately worship God; serving the world around us and going deeper in faith as part of a loving community.
We trust in the one God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. He is infinitely perfect and exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father. In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image, male and female, to live in loving relationship with God and with one another. Humanity’s problem is that we rebel against God, actively or passively choosing to go our own independent way. Ignoring God’s commandments, we violate the image of God in others and ourselves, accept lies as truth, exploit neighbor and nature and threaten death to the planet entrusted to our care. As a result, we’re separated from God. We deserve God’s condemnation. Yet God acts with justice and mercy to redeem creation. He does so through the saving work of Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit as he makes us a new creation.
We trust in Jesus Christ, who is both fully God and fully human, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. While on earth, he showed us what God is like, how very much God loves the world. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. There is nothing we can do to restore our alienation from God – no amount of good human effort can accomplish what God did for us in Christ. It’s a gift of God’s grace that Jesus, the sinless one, took on himself the sins of the world. God raised Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life and breaking the power of sin and evil. He is “the way, and the truth, and the life.” It is through faith in Christ that we come to a restored relationship with God. We believe he will come again to judge the whole world and will then bring God’s new heaven and new earth.
